A visiting State Trooper, Merle Anglin, partners with small town Sheriff’s Deputy Sergeant Wilhelmina Bonds to uncover a murder mystery. The two women are clearing out a retired doctor’s files and discover a murder confession from Dexter, a bragging patient who happens to be a hitman for a deadly organization.

They discover that one of Dexter’s victims was an undercover cop, Detective Humphreys, the late wife of their artist friend Evangeline Updike-Humphreys.
