I have always loved the movies. Since I was a child, my favorite movie types were. In order of favorites, here’s my list:
- Cowboy Movies
- War Movies
- Mystery Movies
I loved watching any and every kind of Cowboy Movies. Westerns, they were called back then. I still believed the good guys wore white hats and the bad guys were black hats. That’s how they were easily recognized. The bleak dusty desert backgrounds of the wild west were wonderful to see as well. How the beiges, shades browns and cactus greens contrasted with the bright orange skies at just before sundown.
My next favorite type were movies about war. Where the was war never matter to me. I loved the buddy, buddy stuff where tragedies of war brought soldiers together. I admired how the soldiers formed long lasting relationships. In the movies, those deep bonds always lasted longer than the war did. The war buddies stayed dear friends until they passed on. Their families knew each and always liked each other as well.
As for mystery movies, I always tried to figure out before the hero did, who-dun-it. I sat there in the movie theater matching wits with him or her. In my mind, I’m thinking what was the motive? If the bad thing was a murder, I wondered who had the most reason to kill the person? Who would be capable of doing the killing? Or who would paid to have it done? Where was the killing truly done? Who had access to the killing grounds? It was a challenge to answer all those questions before the movie ended and everybody knew the answer. And to figure it out before the hero did.
I decided I could write a book with female characters who were just as courageous as those brave soldiers who rescued their friends on the battlefield. I’d add white hat field nurses to the mix. One of them helps save a true white hat hero. Only they don’t become lifelong friends. And their families don’t know each other either. The white hat nurse and female war hero move on with their lives. They meet again years later without recognizing each other. What happens next is part of a fascinating tale of war love and redemption.
