I had this dream about a doctor, a surgeon who is a bit of a hermit. The doctor recently moved to the city to get away from horrible events in her former hometown. The doctor goes to work and comes home. Goes to work and comes home. She has no outside distractions and nor inside distractions either. She doesn’t socialize at work or outside of work. She turned down her next-door neighbors many attempts to socialize. This especially the case with her friendly neighbor directly across the street, who is the local welcome wagon. That same neighbor, a nurse works in the same hospital as the doctor. The doctor made it a definite point to avoid that neighbor both at work and at home.
What would happen when the doctor hears gunshots coming from the home across the street?
The doctor is returning home very late, after performing life-saving surgery. She’s parking the car in her driveway when she hears gunshots. She ducks behind the car for safety. The next thing she sees is her friendly neighbor being chased by men dressed in all black, firing shots at her. The doctor has no idea why she hopped into the driver’s seat, racing down the street to offer the nurse a ride to safety.
What happens next? My dream stopped there. My imagination took over to complete the idea for a book. That’s why I wrote the third novel in the Old Smithtown North Mystery Series.
