Adam: a mother’s love lasts forever

by B.L. in Events, Latest Novels 0 comments
My Unfinished Business of Love series of 5 novellas examines how women handle romantic relationships that end badly. Do the ex-lovers still think about each other? Would they want a do-over? What would they do differently if given the opportunity for a fresh start? Each of my novellas examines what women do when given another chance to make things better for the ones they profess to love…even when that chance comes ten or fifteen years after the breakup.  ADAM: a mother’s love lasts forever is the third book in the Unfinished Business of Love series. I wanted to tell you a little about why I wrote the novella. The death of a child is always difficult to accept. I wanted to write about it. How would it feel to know the child I carried in my belly for nine months, would die long before I did? At first I thought no child should die before his parents. Then I thought, yes, that is true but that is not life. Children die before their parents all the time in many parts of the world. When I finally accepted what it must be like to never see my child grow up; graduate […]

Little Hellion: love tames a wild heart

by B.L. in Events, Latest Novels, Worth a look 0 comments
LITTLE HELLION: love tames a wild heart is the second in my Unfinished Business of Love series. Here’s a bit of backstory. This was the first novel I ever presented to a writing group. I had gone to a writing seminar at the same site where one of the facilitators made fun of my desire to become a romance writer. He and his writer friends look down their noses at me saying that I didn’t deserve to join their writing group because my choice of genres was foolish and unworthy of a real discussion. He continued to make belittling comments. I finally left the seminar felling belittled and humiliated. I even demanded a refund and explained in a terse letter why. The administrator of the writing program had a difficult time with my situation, refusing to refund my money for serval weeks while he checked out my complaint. I finally received a refund. Of course I was very wary about joining another writing group at the same location. The leaders of my new writing group were two older women. What a difference gender makes! They were actually nice, formulating their critiques of my work in useful ways and I learned […]

Horsewoman

by B.L. in Latest Novels, Other 0 comments
HORSEWOMAN: is love more than a one trick pony? This is the first novella in my Unfinished Business of Love series and I wanted to give you a little of the backstory of the book. Whew! I’ve just finished working with my editor and cover artist on five novellas and one full-grown novel of a series called Unfinished Business of Love. I’m releasing all of them for the holidays; one 11/26/15 and the novellas for December 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and the 5th. Finishing all of them in time for December release was rough. I don’t know that I’d do it again but I did finish them! I usually don’t write novellas but I wanted to look at the unfinished business of bad relationships, so I wanted to write something short and sweet. I chose the novella as my format. This novella is the first book in my series that examines how women handle romantic relationships that end badly. Do the ex-lovers still think about each other? Would they want a do-over? What would they do differently if given the opportunity for a fresh start? Each of my novellas examines what women do when given another chance to make things […]

Unfinished Business – a romantic tale about old loves and new ones is the book that started it all for me.

by B.L. in Events, Giveaways, Latest Novels, Worth a look 0 comments
I wrote this book in 2006 to challenge myself. I wanted to see if I could tell a decent suspense tale with a romantic bent. I needed inspiration to keep writing so I named one of the main characters after one of my favorite play aunts from childhood. As happens sometimes in life my play aunt grew older and developed dementia. In her later years, her children admitted her to an assisted living center for seniors. The last time I visited my mother, we went to see my play aunt. She looked older but she was still so beautiful it nearly took my breath away. Unfortunately her mind wasn’t a match for her body and she didn’t remember who I was. At the time we visited, my play aunt was concerned that her husband wasn’t in the room with her and she was running all over the place searching for him. My mother didn’t have the heart to tell her what the nursing staff had told my play aunt a million times that her husband lived elsewhere in another assisted living center. Her husband of nearly sixty years needed a wheelchair to help him get around. While his body had […]

Unfinished Business

by B.L. in Latest Novels 0 comments
Do you ever wonder what happened to your ex-lover, the one and only love of your life who left you? What is she doing now? Who is she with now? Does she miss you now? If you had the chance to find out, would you take it? All those questions and more are answered in my new suspense novel with a romantic turn UNFINISHED BUSINESS. Pre-order now; release date on 11/26/15. Former New York City cop Jessie Henderson now works as a private investigator. She used to be a respected beat officer who became involved in a drug shootout. She lost her partner but earned a detective’s gold shield and an alcohol problem that eventually created a crisis for her. Today, Jessie Henderson is a recovering alcoholic, who just received a note from the love of her life, Ruth James. Ruth’s cryptic message demands Jessie to meet her in the lobby in fifteen minutes. They haven’t spoken to each other since their acrimonious breakup ten years ago. Out of curiosity, Jessie agrees to meet Ruth at a side entrance away from the prying eyes of her secretary. On the way through the alley, the women become victims of a mugging. […]

Sinkholes – Part Two – love always finds a way by B.L. Wilson

by B.L. in Latest Novels, Most popular, Must read, Other, Q & A, Related posts, What the experts say, Worth a look 0 comments
B.L. Wilson  about her book: I was raised in a family of women but I went on to have just one child a son. I wanted to write a story about a family of all women. I wanted talk about what it might like for a mother to have only girls and how each daughter might reflect a part of her mother good or bad. I wondered what that might feel like to see your reflection in each one of your daughters. That’s when I decided to give one of my main characters five daughters; each woman has her own unique personality. Everybody thinks Mama has always been straight because she married a nice man and made four babies with him. She knows that’s not quite true. I added some spice and sass to the story by reuniting the mother of five with the other main character, a much hated ex-roommate and one time lover for a 10-week undergraduate field course. Sinkholes, love always finds a way Part Two continues where Part One left off. Isabella and Alexis try to keep their distance from each other as agreed, but circumstances continue to push them together. Although Isabella still feels betrayed […]
