Sinkholes – Part Two – love always finds a way by B.L. Wilson

by B.L. in Latest Novels, Most popular, Must read, Other, Q & A, Related posts, What the experts say, Worth a look 0 comments
B.L. Wilson  about her book: I was raised in a family of women but I went on to have just one child a son. I wanted to write a story about a family of all women. I wanted talk about what it might like for a mother to have only girls and how each daughter might reflect a part of her mother good or bad. I wondered what that might feel like to see your reflection in each one of your daughters. That’s when I decided to give one of my main characters five daughters; each woman has her own unique personality. Everybody thinks Mama has always been straight because she married a nice man and made four babies with him. She knows that’s not quite true. I added some spice and sass to the story by reuniting the mother of five with the other main character, a much hated ex-roommate and one time lover for a 10-week undergraduate field course. Sinkholes, love always finds a way Part Two continues where Part One left off. Isabella and Alexis try to keep their distance from each other as agreed, but circumstances continue to push them together. Although Isabella still feels betrayed […]

In Belly Fires, even death can’t kill the flames of passion

by B.L. in Most popular, Must read, Other, Q & A, Related posts, What the experts say, Worth a look 0 comments
In Belly Fires, even death can’t kill the flames of passion, Lieutenant Governor Charlene Ford loses everything in a deadly car crash and nothing feels the same. One minute, she is at the top of her game as the first African American lesbian lieutenant governor of New York State. The next minute, she is trying to keep a stiff upper lip as she watches the gravediggers bury the two walnut coffins containing her son JJ and her life partner, Regina. Her family is gone. Her world is gone. All she wants is to go away and disappear for a while; to just get lost until the pain in her heart stops. She sneaks away from her security escorts and borrows her chief of staff’s ancient jeep. She and Rusty, her loyal Akita, climb into the old jeep and head for parts unknown. As she crashes through the guardrail, she struggles to put on the brakes. The jeep’s brakes don’t work. Charlene stops fighting her fate as the car floats in mid-air for a long moment, then tumbles down the mountainside. The next time Charlene opens her eyes, the pain is tremendous. A handsome woman is standing over her with a […]

In the sensual whodunit novel, Second Chances, at love and murder, a woman regains consciousness from a fifteen-month coma. She has a second chance at life while her killer has a second chance to kill her. Will the woman’s assailant finally succeed in killing her before the cop, who reopens the cold case, can prevent the murder? Fifteen months before, a brutal assailant left Dr. Bennett to die on an isolated stretch of Harlem River Drive in New York City. The beating put her in a coma and Gwen was as surprised as everyone else that the woman could survive the extensive loss of blood and physical trauma. After her investigation reveals no suspects, Gwen closes the doctor’s case but maintains a monthly vigil at the coma clinic. When Angela regains consciousness and begins rebuilding her wounded body and chaotic personal life, Gwen reopens the case. Then one of Gwen’s officers dies in a shootout. COMING OUT: LESBIAN AT 47

by B.L. in Most popular, Must read, Other, What the experts say, Worth a look 0 comments
I read this article from a worried parent years ago. I found the question interesting enough to write about. A woman, the mother says, “My 16-year-old son told me that he is gay. What should I do about it?” Today, I’d add my own experiences of informing my family that I was a lesbian. I wasn’t as young as that mother’s son was when he said, “Guess what Mom? I’m gay. Nope, that wasn’t me. I was 47-years old before I finally admitted to me that I was gay and then I admitted it to my family. You’re probably thinking isn’t 47 a little old to discover your orientation? Shouldn’t a person know before they reach 30 who or what they like? At 47, a person has lived over half her life in the shadows and maybe with the wrong gender as well. I understand your skepticism but permit me to explain my particular situation. I’m a Baby Boomer. When I grew up, young women were just beginning to flex their muscles. They were thinking about working in non-traditional jobs and considered living non-traditional lives. Most of the women I knew when I was a kid, wore traditional clothes to […]

Book covers: is a picture really worth a 1000 words? Can you tell a book by its cover?

by B.L. in Most popular, Must read, What the experts say, Worth a look 0 comments
Hello, Everyone, I’ve been trying to figure out what makes one book sell while another doesn’t. Let me explain what I mean. I published three books on October 31 of 2014. You heard right— on Halloween of last year. I chose that date because one of my books…. Oh, snap! I forgot to mention the titles of my novels. They are SAFE HAVEN, OLD MAN PETERSON, murder it’s all in the family and I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT but what about tomorrow? Anyway, I chose All Hallows Eve to release my books like so many caged ravens because one of my books, I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT, has an erotic, Halloween-themed masquerade ball in it. My first cover for I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT had a busy Halloween-themed cover. The book barely sold. I knew my writing was good, but who would know that if the cover made readers pass on my book? Let’s see if I can dig up a copy of that cover? I frankly loved that cover, but when I posted on a site that reviews book covers, they didn’t. They asked me, “What do babies have to do with pumpkins, cigars, and guns?” They recommended that I shouldn’t combine […]

I AM CHARLIE?

by B.L. in Most popular, Must read, Other, What the experts say, Worth a look 0 comments
January 8, 2015 Too bad these young men couldn’t be taken alive and interviewed I want to know why they were killed and did they actually do what the media and police says they did. Nobody seems to want to examine the racism and the prejudice against Muslims. I keep hearing the BS on from white media who are acting like they don’t understand this. These guys probably aren’t terrorists any more than MLK or Malcolm were. They are young men of color who don’t feel a part of society…duh…sounds familiar, doesn’t it? The USA manages to send its racism around the world without even trying hard, doesn’t it? Did I mention what happened in Paris and what’s happening here BLACK LIVES MATTER and the willingness the police unions to stage a Blue Flu action, could be teachable moments about white privilege and Black lives don’t matter attitudes? I’m not creative enough to design something but I sure can see the links. Can you?
